A light hazy appearance, known as Low Angle Haze (L.A.H.), is a phenomenon that appeared shortly after ceramic tint first entered the scene. It's caused by the microscopic solid particles of unequal size and arrangement on the ceramic layer of any ceramic film. Shockingly, some tint shops aren't even aware of what it is, or how to explain it.

The answer is in the manufacturing process before the window tint is even made. Our window film manufacturer has made it almost disappear! Our competitors' films haven't reached this level of technological advancement yet. And, since some tint shops don't install this kind of tint because of it's expense, they haven't yet learned all the details about Low Angle Haze.

«I am overjoyed at the result of my 2018 Pathfinder tint! I look cool, stay cool and don't worry anymore about my toddlers getting sun blasted in the car seats. Thank you so much! SOMD Sun Control ROCKS!»

Low Angle Haze is a physical condition that affects all carbon and ceramic window films. When the sun is at a low angle in the morning or evening, a hazy appearance may appear. The higher the IR Heat Rejection Factor the tint is rated, the more noticable the Low Angle Haze will be. This is caused by the microscopic particle density on the IR Layer of the tint.

  • Nano-Carbon IR60 High-Performance Tint
  • Nano-Ceramic IR80 Super-Performance Tint
  • Nano-Ceramic IR98 Ultra-Performance Tint

High IR Solar Heat Rejection is the ultimate goal, however, optical clarity is just as important for driving safety and comfort. Low Angle Haze is the result of microscopic carbon or ceramic particles clumping together. And in addition, the unsymetrical spacing common with these types of window tints. Remember, ALL carbon and ceramic films share this issue, but the seperator between the good and the best products is the manufacturing.

Our film manufacturer has developed a proprietary encapsulation process solving this concern. Now, the microscopic carbon or ceramic particles won't clump, and will remain symetrical. The end result is the lowest Low Angle Haze of any tinting product offered.
